Learning Resources UK bug themed toys **REVIEW**

James has recently started school and as one of the older children in class seems to be thriving!
James just like most childrens loves playing and so we try and incorporate learning through fun and games.

I recently came across Learning Resources UK, they manufacture a wide range of award-winning toys and learning aids for children from two to twelve years.

The lovely people at Learning Resources UK recently sent us some of their new "Bug" themed learning toys to try out with James and I have to say they are fantastic!!

This lovely set introduces children to 2-D geometric shapes and gives them a fun and interactive way to learn all about them. This set is aimed at children aged 5-9. Children can create their own artistic master pieces using the cards included whilst becoming familiar with 2-D geometric shapes. The geometric shapes included in the set are traslucent so children can easily see the picture beneith to check they are outting the shape in the correct place. Each picture can be completed in more than one way by using different shapes and therefore increases the challenge the older they get.

This 2-D geometric shapes activity set includes:
    • 20 double-sided activity cards
    • 14 different translucent shapes (five different triangles, two different squares, rectangle, hexagon, trapezium, rhombus, circle, semi-circle and quarter circle).
James loves this set and has already learnt the names of several shapes included in the set. Here is a frog he completed earlier -
He enjoyed searching for the shapes needed, naming them and then placing them in the correct place on the picture.

This set would be a great resource for anyone hoping to hep their child learn all about 2-D shapes or perhaps extend there knowledge.

This set compromises of 6 plastic bugs and a interactive talking net! This has been James favourite toy since it landed on our door step, He seems to have picked up lots of facts from it to (and repeats them to anyone who will listen lol!).
I really like the fact the net has 2 settings, One which is a "facts" button where you place an animal inside the net and it tells you a fact about that animal. The second button is a "quiz" button where the net asks questions about a certain bug and you have to identify which bug it is and place it in the net.

Here is a short video clip of James using the "quiz" function of the net.

If you are looking for fun, engaging and interactive learning toys then you really need to check out the Learning Resources UK website here - www.learningresources.co.uk.

  3. I like the geometric shapes, although until you mentioned it I wouldn't have picked out the image of a frog. The challenge is a little like a jigsaw puzzle, but in a simplistic form. Great activities for children.
