Making Bath Time Fun: Creative Ideas for Kids

**Collaborative Post**

Bath time is one of James and Evelyn’s favourite parts of the day! The moment I even mention the word “bath”, they both race up the stairs faster than Usain Bolt off the starting line.

Evelyn loves to splash, especially if Mummy or Daddy are close enough to get caught in the crossfire! By the end, our bathroom often looks more like a mini swimming pool than a bathroom. James, on the other hand, likes to pretend he’s a shark, spending more time under the water than above it.

Tonight, I decided to make bath time extra special with something a little different, a glow bath!
It couldn’t be easier: I ran the bath as usual, added plenty of bubbles, then popped a few glow sticks into the water before switching off the light. The look on James’s face when he saw it was absolutely priceless! He couldn’t wait to jump in.

If you’d rather skip the glow sticks, you can also try a bath disco light, which gives a similar magical effect.

Here are a few more fun bath time activities we’ve discovered to keep little ones entertained, engaged, and (mostly!) in the tub.

Bath Crayons

Do you have a budding little artist or a child who loves to doodle? Bath crayons are a brilliant way to make bath time fun. Your child can draw on the sides of the bath or tiles, and when they’re finished, their creations simply wash away with water. It’s mess-free creativity, perfect for artistic little minds!

Bath Alphabet Letters

Since starting school, James has been so enthusiastic about sounding out and spelling everything. To make learning even more fun, we bought some bath alphabet letters. They’re both educational and entertaining!

We like to challenge James to spell his own name, or even his sister’s, while they play. It’s a lovely mix of fun and learning that turns bath time into a mini classroom.

Bubbles, Bubbles, and More Bubbles!

You can never go wrong with bubbles! Most children absolutely love them, and an extra bubbly bath is always a hit.

You can get lots of different types of bubble machines but make sure the one you pick is safe to be around water so you can use it at bath time. You can pick up bubble machines specifically designed for bath time, which have handy suction cups so you can attach it to the tiles, fill it up, and let it fill the bathroom with magical floating bubbles. The kids have endless fun trying to pop them as they fall, it’s adorable to watch!

Bath Toys

There’s no shortage of bath toys these days, so you’re bound to find something your children will enjoy. James’s favourites are the ones that squirt water (although I can’t say I’m the biggest fan when I’m the target!).

One of my top picks is the Mega Bloks Build ‘n’ Splash set, which we found on the Toys R Us website. It’s such a fun and imaginative way to encourage play and creativity in the bath. But it really depends on what your child is into and its good to have a variety of options so you can rotate them around so they never get boring.

What Are Your Favourite Bath Time Activities?

Those are just a few of the ways we make bath time exciting for James and Evelyn. I’d love to hear from you—do you have any brilliant ideas to make bath time more fun? Or maybe your children have a favourite bath toy or routine?

Amelia looves bath time, she currently loves her bath tea set mostly so she can get a good glug of bath water haha! We have bath crayons too but she mostly enjoys these whilst waiting for the bath to run. Thanks so much for linking up! #mummymonday co-host x
