Living Arrows - 1/52 (2019)

“You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth”

This year I really wanted to take part in a linky or two and the Living Arrows linky hosted by the lovely Donna from What The Red Head Said really stood out as one I wanted to take part in!

The project originally took it’s name from a poem by Kahlil Gibran, “You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth” . Each week I will share a picture of both James and Evelyn (or perhaps a picture of them together) sharing how our week has been. A bit like an online diary I guess and I know I will really enjoy looking back on all the pictures at the end of the year. Hopefully I will see some improvement in my pictures at the end of the year too as working on my photography skills is definitely one of my goals for this year!

So here is our week one Living Arrows post -

So last week was a bit of a strange one, my husband went back to work Wednesday but the kids were still off school all week (they actually went back today!). We have all been a bit out of sorts, unsure of the day and just generally out of routine since Christmas but we really wanted to make the most of the last few days before we were back to the school routine and seemingly always busy.

We spent Wednesday in our pyjamas (well apart from a walk to the dentist and a trip to the shop after to stock up on snacks!) and it was much needed. Thursday we saw friends for a swim which was lovely as with everything being up in the air with Christmas we haven't seen them for a few weeks and the kids had so much fun playing together, splashing, diving and chasing each other around the pool!

On Sunday we decided a trip to the park was very much needed to blow away some of those Christmas cobwebs despite the chilly weather. The kids had so much fun climbing, swinging, sliding and feeding the ducks of course. We are really lucky to have so many lovely parks so close to where we live that we really must make more use of them this year, before the kids decide going to the park isn't "cool" anymore!

I have to admit I don't think I remember the moment Evelyn was suddenly big enough to go on the "bigger" play equipment at the park but she barely even brushed past the younger section of the park, instead opting to climb high up in the older section giggling as she realised how high up she was. James played for a little but remarked that we should definitely bring a football next time, he's all about football at the moment apparently.

Whilst a break is always much welcome and needed from the school and work routine we are always slightly glad to get back to it after a longer break as the routine works really well for us and the kids love having all that time together with their school friends. They both happily went into school this morning and came home telling me all about the fun they had been getting up to (and the chocolate mousse/ brownie they had for pudding!).

I can't wait to share our pictures with you again next week and if you fancy joining in yourself just click the image below which will take you directly to the linky and tell you exactly how you can join in too.

xXx

  3. I love this, it sounds very familiar! My photos from this week for Living Arrows are also from a trip to the park where we played and then fed the ducks! Such a great way to blow away the cobwebs. x #LivingArrows
