**Collaborative Post**
When life gets busy, it’s easy to let family wellness slip down the priority list. There always seems to be a calendar full of events, clubs, parties, appointments, etc, and when life gets hectic, one of the first things we let slip is caring for ourselves and our bodies. Whilst it might seem time-consuming, keeping everyone healthy doesn’t have to be complicated or time-consuming at all!
Here are five easy ways to look after your family’s health and happiness all year long that you can easily slip into a busy schedule.
1. Take Quality Vitamins & Supplements
Even with the best intentions, it can be challenging to obtain all the necessary nutrients from a diet alone, especially with picky eaters in the house. A good multivitamin can help fill any gaps. Just Vitamins has a brilliant range for the whole family. For example, their Multivitamin A-Z is ideal for adults, while Omega-3 Chewy Capsules are great for kids’ brain health. They also offer Vitamin D3 for bone health and immune support, so everyone can stay fit and healthy, even in winter.
2. Make Family Mealtimes a Priority
Try to sit down together for at least one meal a week. It’s a great way to encourage healthy eating habits, discuss your day, and monitor everyone’s nutrition to make sure they are getting a good variety of food, not just eating the bits they like the most. Get the kids involved in meal planning, shopping and cooking too, they’re more likely to try new foods when they’ve helped choose the meals, pick the food, and prep the meal too.
3. Get Outdoors - Whatever the Weather!
Fresh air and exercise do wonders for everyone’s mood and well-being, even if it doesn't feel like it at the time. (Yes, teenagers will moan about retreating from their rooms and how boring walking is, but they will likely be the ones who end up enjoying it the most!) Whether it’s a quick walk around the block, a weekend nature trail, trying your hand at geocaching, or just a kickabout in the garden, spending time outdoors helps kids burn off energy and gives adults and kids a much-needed break from screens.
4. Prioritise Sleep for Everyone
A good night’s sleep makes a world of difference. Try to stick to regular bedtimes and create a calming bedtime routine that suits your family. This might mean taking a warm bath, enjoying story time, or engaging in a bit of quiet reading to help everyone wind down. Try to avoid being on screens directly before bedtime as this will allow your brain time to shut down and not have to focus on anything, which should help you drift off a little easier.
5. Make Time to Talk & Laugh
Looking after emotional health is just as important as physical health. Take time each day to really talk and listen to each other, even if it’s just five minutes before bed or asking how each others day went. And don’t forget to have fun! Family game nights, silly dance parties in the kitchen, or movie marathons, forget about the world around you or what others might think and just allow yourselves to be in the moment and laugh with your family like nobody is watching. It's these moments the kids will remember and reminisce can bring everyone closer together.
Keeping your family happy and healthy doesn’t have to feel like another chore, it’s the little things that make the biggest difference. Here’s to a year full of good health, big smiles, and special moments together!
