May Degustabox **REVIEW**

Both myself and the kids get a little bit excited each month when our monthly Degustabox arrives! Its always exciting to see which products are inside each month, there is always a wide range and something for everyone inside the box. 

If you have not heard of Degustabox before they are a monthly food and drink subscription box. Each month a box is delivered to your door packed full or food and drink products, some from totally new companies some from existing companies. The box is priced at £12.99 which includes delivery and the contents of the box is always considerably more than the price you pay. 

Here is what was inside our May Degsutabox - 

Jack Daniels – Honey BBQ Glaze - This was one of my husbands favourite products in this months box! It has a sweet yet subtly smokey bbq flavour, we used it to make a hunters chicken style dish and it was delicious as the flavour was there but not over powering.

Garofalo – Fusilli - Both James and Evelyn are pasta fiends so this was a great addition to the box.  hadn't seen this shape of pasta before but it was great for using with a sauce such as a pasta bake as the twists really held on to the sauce. The pasta itself was really delicious and had a really authentic taste. 

Cranes –Cider - These were one of my favourite additions to the box. They had a crisp fruity flavour that made them so refreshing and the perfect drink to enjoy during these hot summer months in the garden. The strawberry flavour present in both of them was strong (But not over powering) and really made the drink delicious. 

Kallo – Milk Chocolate & Yoghurt / Milk Choco Corn cakes - Corn cakes make a great addition to picnic baskets and as a snack so it was fab to see not 1 but 2 flavours in this months box. 

Brioche Pasquier – Croissants - Brioche Pasquier have made a regular appearance in the Degustabox but it has always been a new product and its been great to try so many different products from a brand. The croissants were very soft and buttery and were the perfect size for James lunch box. 

Pomegreat – Pomegranate Juice - When I first tried this I found the flavour a little unusual but the more I tried it the more I really enjoyed it! The taste is sweet but not overly sweet and it is really refreshing! I mixed mine with some lemonade and slices of fresh lemon and it tasted amazing! 

Beloved Dates- Date Nectar - As I am currently trying to be healthier it was great to find this in my box this month as it can be used as a healthier alternative to sugar when baking which is something I love to do. We also used this to pour or pancakes that we had over the weekend. It tasted just like syrup and had that sweetness but much better for you. 

Pechkeks – Misfortune Cookies - I loved these!! The black cookie gave it a spooky feel and the quirky misfortune quotes inside were so much fun! The cookie itself was sweet and very crunch, these would be a great addition to a Halloween party table! 

Get Fruity – fruity bar - I always love finding things like this in the box as they give me great ideas for healthy lunch box snacks for both myself and the kids. That's the great thing about Degustabox is that you get to try things before buying whole packs. The get fruity bars were really nice and packed full of flavour. 

The Wonderful Co – Pistachios and Almonds - These came in really handy snack size packs which I thought were great. They contained a portion size of nuts and are great for popping in my handbag or lunch bag for a healthy snack alternative.

My favourite product in the box this month had to be the Coldpress golden delicious apple juice it was crisp and freshing with a real burst of flavour, its something I will certainly be keeping an eye out for when I am shopping. 

The Yushoi rice sticks were a new brand to me and a product I hadn't heard of before but they were something we all enjoyed. The flavour wasn't to over powering and these make a great alternative to crisps for a healthier snack.

Christmas Degustabox **REVIEW** and Discount Code.

With Christmas almost upon us you can imagine my excitement when I was told this months Degustabox was the "Christmas" box and I couldn't wait to see what goodies were inside!

Incase you haven't heard of Degustabox before they are a monthly food/drink subscription box costing £12.99 per month(or £6.99 with the discount code on this page!). Each month a box full of food and drink items is delivered to your door for you to try. There may be brands you have heard of before and some will be brand new to you.

Here is what was inside our box this month -

Ryvita Crispy Crackers and Ryvita Thins

Inside this months box there were 2 products from Ryvita, the thins which are perfect for dipping and dunking with a dip or your choice and the crackers which are fantastic for topping with toppings like chutney or cheese! Both would make a great addition to any buffet style lunch or cheese platter.

Teisseire drops
These Vanilla and Caramel flavoured drops were an interested addition to the box this month and something totally new to me. They come in a handy pack and you can add a few drops in to cold drinks, hot drinks or even alcohol!

Belvita
If like me you are always in a rush in the morning you will adore these new Belvita soft bakes! I love finding breakfast items in my box as its one meal I struggle to fit in so these offer up some ideas for me to try. These soft bakes are made with five wholegrains and rich in cereals, offering a great source of fibre and containing vitamin B6, magnesium and Iron these are a great way to start the day.

Butterkist Popcorn
When it comes to popcorn your choice is usually sweet or salty, not anymore as Butterkist bring you salted caramel popcorn! Trying new flavours like this is part of the reason I love receiving the Degustabox.

Branston Chutney
Branston Orchard fruit chutney is the perfect accompaniment to all of those Christmas leftovers. Bramley apples are blended with sultanas, orange zest and spices to create the unique flavour of Orchard fruit chutney. I loved the tangy slightly sweet taste of this chutney and will certainly be adding it to our Christmas leftovers this year.

Nims Fruit Crisps
I am always looking for healthier alternatives to standard crisp and these fruit crisp may be just what I was looking for. Nims crisp are made in the UK and are 100% fruit crisps that are sliced and dried to perfection to create a moreish crisp snack. Whats even better is that they also count as 1 of your 5 a day, they are also high in fibre and Vitamin C.

Hartley's Jelly
Two words... Glittery Jelly!! Whats not to love. The kids were so excited to try this and it really works as soon as you add the water to make up the jelly you can see the fine glittery shimmer in the jelly. Also inside the box was Hartleys Black cherry jelly which has a lovely rich cherry flavour which went lovely with vanilla ice cream.

Bourne and Wallis Pickles
With Christmas almost here lots of us will be using up left over turkey and meats and these Bourne and Wallis range of Pickles make a fantastic accompaniment to the table. We received the baby beetroot which my husband said was delicious.

Divine Chocolate
Divine Chocolate is a favourite of mine as they offer such a wide range of the more "grown up" flavour chocolate and as its quite rich a little goes a long way. I received the 70% dark chocolate with rasperberries in this box and it was amazing! Rich dark chocolate with a tang of sweet raspberry whats not to love!? All Divine products are fairtrade, natural and free from palm oil.

Rekorderlig Cider
I am a big fan already of Rekorderlig cider so I was over the moon to find this in my box. Rekorderlig dry apple is the latest creation from the House of Rekorderlig. It throws a modern twist to a much loved classic and offers a delicious crisp apple flavour which is really refreshing.

Food Thoughts Cocoa Powder
I adore baking especially now the Christmas season is here so I have even more reason to do it, so when I discovered the Food Thoughts organic Fairtrade 100% cocoa powder in my box I knew it would come in handy. This cocoa powder is described as for better baking and is non alkalised and gluten free.

As you can see there were lots of delicious treats in this box! My personal favourite had to be the glittery jelly I mean who doesn't love glittery jelly!? This months box offered a great range to try and the rrp of the products was almost double the value of the £12.99 price.

August Degustabox **REVIEW**

If you like the idea of a range of food and drink items being delivered to your door each month for a amazingly low price then Degustabox could be for you!!

Degustabox is a monthly food/drink subscription box which is delivered to your door each month for the monthly cost of £12.99. Each month the box will contain between 9 and 14 items which will be a mix of food and drink, sweet and savoury and guarenteed excitement as your rumage through your box to discover your goodies.

Here is what we received inside our August Degustabox.

Dr Oetker Mug Cakes

The Dr Oetker mug cakes where the first thing I pulled out of the box and my face lit up! We were sent the 3 flavours available which are chocolate, chocolate chip and lemon and I can confirm all are delicious! These mug cakes are perfect for creating a sweet indulgent pudding in under 2 minutes, you only need to add milk and pop in to microwave! These are perfect to have in the cupboards for when you need a quick sweet/cake fix.

LifeTonics

There are very often different brands of coconut water inside the Degustabox which is great if you like coconut water, however I do not so these often get wasted unfortunately. Its not really a big issue for me though as its only 1 product in the box and would be a great addition for anyone who does enjoy such products.

Barilla

In this months box we received 2 products from the Barilla range an Arriabbiata tomato and chilli sauce and the Barilla penne rigata pasta. The Arriabbiata sauce is a delicious blend of spicy chilli's and 100% authentic Italian tomatoes. The Penne rigata is made in Italy with carefully selected durum wheat and the shape is inspired by the shape of an old style pen. I loved that they included these 2 products in the same box as you can use these 2 products to create a delicious meal!

Walkers biscuits

Walkers is a brand I hadn't heard of when it comes to biscuits so I was excited to try these when I discovered them in the box this month. I received the chocolate chip, lemon and fruit and oaty biscuits, each flavour came in a cute pack of 2 biscuits. I can confirm that they all tasted great and as the packs come individually wrapped packs of 2 these would be perfect for lunch boxes and picnics etc.

Bahlsen biscuits

You just can't go wrong with chocolate biscuits! The Pick ME Up biscuit bars have a delicious crunchy outer biscuit with a solid chocolate centre which put together make a chocolate delight, a must try. I hadn't heard of the Leibniz biscuits before but I can confirm they get a huge thumbs up. Whats not to love about a chocolate biscuit generously coated in creamy white chocolate.

Delicious Alchemy Oaty cookie mix

I was thrilled to see that Degustabox were including a Gluten Free item in their box this month, whilst I am not Gluten Free it just shows the diversity of products available in the Degustabox for me! I made these cookies which were extremely easy to make with my son on the weekend and they were delicious! A crisp outside with a soft/chewy middle.

Ryvita

If you think "Diet food" when I say Ryvita then think again. Ryvita have recently had a major overhaul and whilst doing this have added a wide range of different flavours. I found these to be perfect to grab for a quick lunch topped with simple ingredients like cream cheese and tomato make a delicious filling lunch. I also found them perfect for a lighter option for dipping in to soup!

I love how Degustabox gives me the opportunity to try new and existing brands that I may have not tried before. I also love how the box isn't contained to 1 type of item and contains a real mix each month.

June Degustabox!

If you like trying new food and drink and love the sound of it being convinently delivered to your doorstep each month for a low monthly cost them Degustabox is for you! 

Degustabox is a monthly subscription box which contains between 9 and 12 items for you to try. Some will be completely new brands/ products and others may be things you have tried before. Degustabox costs just £12.99 a month (but I have a discount code at the end of this post!).

Here is what was in this months box - 

Rekorderlig Cider 

I was so excited to see this in this months box I most definitely swiped it before anyone else had a chance! I received the strawberry and lime flavour and it was amazing, the only way to describe it would be a fresh fruity summer in a bottle and it would be the perfect drink to accompany a summer bbq or summer evening drinks with friends. 

Choc Chip/ Chocolate Brioche Pasquier 

These have made a few appearances in the Degustabox but they always go down well with the kids and they are so handy for lunch boxes or summer picnic baskets! The soft sweet brioche mixed with the creamy chocolate chips make the perfect combination for a sweet snack. They now come in a pack of 4 and are individually wrapped making them easier to pop into a lunchbox or bag. 

Icycl

I have to admit I was a little miffed at what this was when I first got it out the box but soon discovered it was basically an adult ice pop! how cool is that!? They RRP at £2.50 so a little pricey but they are so much fun and would be a great addition to an adults summer party or barbecue! They are available in a range of natural fruity flavours and are 6.4% vodka. 

Love Chin Chin snacks

This West African sweet snack is manufactured in the UK and made with 100% natural ingredients. We were sent the Cinammon flavour and the Love Chin Chin motto of crunches like a biscuit tastes like a cake certainly range true! I found these really moreish and something a little bit different to your normal "sweet snack".

Vybe coconut water 

Coconut water seems to have been quite popular in the last few Degustaboxes and has made various apperances from different brands, im not going to lie im not a huge fan as I really dislike the taste of coconut. However I know that coconut water offers great health benefits and if you are a fan of coconut then this would most likely be something you would really enjoy. 

Kallo corn and rice snacks

Kallo wholegrain corn and rice snacks are low in fat and calories so I was really excited to find these in my box as I have been trying to find "healthier" snack alternatives! The Kallo corn and rice "crisp" were lovely, they had a great crunch and were packed full of flavour. The chocolate covered Kallo snacks were equally delicious and even the kids liked them! 

Zeo Drinks 

Zeo are lightly carbonated soft drinks blending 98% spring water blended with naturally extracted fruits and botanicals and a touch of stevia for sweetness. The flavours we tried were peach and grapefruit and the lime versions. Both flavours had a strange taste to begin with but I soon got used to these and actually found them quite refreshing. These are definitely more of an adult fizzy drink flavour though. 

Melba Thins

I tried the original version of these in a previous Degustabox and they were a hit so I was looking forward to trying the wholegrain version this month. Melba thins make a great quick lunch and are so versatile they can be topped with literally ANYTHING! They have a nice crunch and are actually really filling. 

So there you have Junes Degustabox, as you can see its packed full of goodies to try and from lots of different brands too.

May Degustabox **REVIEW**

If receiving a monthly box packed full of delicious food and drink delivered straight to your door for a bargain price sounds like your kind of thing then you need to check out Degustabox!

Degustabox is a monthly subscription box that is delivered straight to your door for the monthly price of £12.99. Each box will contain between 10-15 products and the RRP of the products will always far outweigh the price you pay for the box, giving you the chance to try some fantastic new products for next to nothing! 

This month we were informed our box was coming early and we were all very excited for its arrival! 

The May box had a slight BBQ theme to coincide with all the nice weather we have been having so we were even more intrigued what was going to be inside, are you intrigued too? Well here is what was inside our May Degustabox. 

Sweet baby Ray's 

My husband is a huge BBQ sauce fan and so was delighted to find another brand in our box this month. This month it was Sweet baby Ray's straight from the USA. Sweet baby Ray's honey BBQ sauce has a sweet yet smokey flavour and is really versatile, it can be used for marinating, cooking with or just for dipping to name a few uses. We really enjoyed it especially on chicken. 

Schwartz marinade

Schwartz have made marinating easy with their new marinade in a bag kits. You simply add your meat, fish or veg into the bag which already contains your marinade, seal it up and cook for 30 minutes. We tried the honey and soy marinade with chicken and can honestly say it was so simple to use and the chicken was packed full or flavour and was so tender, really delicious!

Maggi noodle's

We have received several Maggi products in previous boxes but its always nice to try new things from the range. These noodles are quick and easy to make and pack a whole lot of flavour. Just add the seasoning sachet to the noodles, cook and add meat, fish or veg to create a tasty quick meal. 

9 Bar

9 Bar is a healthy snack that is stacked with nutritious seeds including sunflower, sesame and pumpkin which are combined with dried apricots and dates and then topped with carob to make this healthy snack bar. I was a little apprehensive about trying these but they were actually quite tasty! As I have been making a real effort with my diet recently these have been perfect for keeping in my bag in case I get peckish. 

Daelmans Stroopwafels

These authentic dutch stroopwafels taste amazing!! They offer a crunchy outside with a creamy caramel centre. Stroopwafels are actually designed to be placed on top of a cup of tea/coffee and warmed slightly before consuming, however im not a fan of hot drinks but they tasted just as delicious eaten straight from the pack!

Sarsons balsamic vinegar

With summer well and truely on its way I have been enjoying more salads for lunch recently and I am always looking for ways to make them more interesting. This full bodied balsamic vinegar from Sarsons has definitely done that! It turns any boring salad into a tangy delight with a really punch of flavour. 

Slim pasta

I was really intrigued to find Slim pasta in my box as it isn't a brand or product I had seen before. Slim pasta is made from all natural konjac flour and oat fibre meaning slim pasta is a low calorie alternative for regular pasta. We were sent the Lasagne sheets to try and whilst the uncooked texture was a little strange once cooked they were actually not to bad. These are carb free and only 21 calories per 100g serving so if you are watching your weight or cutting our carbs these are definitely worth a try.

Green coco juice

This kids coco juice has a twist with the added flavour of banana! It comes in a handy 200ml carton with straw and offers a low acidity drink for kids. Unfortunutly none of us in our family are a fan of the coconut flavour and so this drink wasn't for us and neither of the kids wanted to drink it. I can see it being popular though if your child likes the coconut flavour as the cartons are handy lunch box/ picnic size. 

Fuel 10k protibrick

Fuel 10k is the first ever protein boosted wheat biscuit and has been designed to help increase protein in to our diets and to keep you feeling fuller for longer. These are made from 100% wholegrain, they are high in fibre and low in sugar and fat. 

Overall this month we were a little disappointed with this box, aside from a few marinades there wasn't really a clear bbq theme as suggested more of a health kick or get fit theme. However as always all of the products got used up some way or another and therefore ultimately saved us money and gave us the opportunity to try products we wouldn't have tried before, for me that's the whole point of Degustabox!

April Degustabox **REVIEW**

As the end of the month approaches everyone in the houses gets excited about our Degustabox arriving and discovering what is going to be inside!

This months Degustabox had an intriguing theme - The International Box.

Degustabox is a monthly subscription box that is delivered to your door at the end of each month. Each month your box will be filled to the brim of delicious food and drink products to try in which many of the brands will be new or new products from existing large brands. The cost of Degustabox is £ 12.99 a month (although you will find a discount code at the bottom of this post!) and the contents of the box always far outweighs the cost you pay!

Here is what was inside our box this month -

Veetee rice

Veetee is a brand that is regularly included in the Degustabox.This months box included these microwavable rice pots, I really like these rice tubs as they are so quick and easy to pop in to the microwave. This month we received 2 new flavours to try Peri Peri and Spicy mexican style. Both had a hint of spice to them but both were delicious especially the spicy mexican style rice served with warm taco's!

Barrys tea

I personally don't drink tea so I would love to see something different in next months box as we do seem to receive tea in most boxes. It doesn't go to waste though my mum loves tea and has said she loves trying all the new flavours and Barry's Tea was lovely.

Cirio

This months box contained not 1 but 2 products from Cirio, tomato fillets and double concentrate tomato puree. My dad used the tomato fillets to top a delicious home made pizza and said they were perfect for job. The tomato puree came in 4 handy sized pots, I used one in a spaghetti bolognese and it came it a lovely rich tomato flavour.

Kinder chocolate 

Of course James eyes lit up when he saw these in the box and I have to admit so did mine! We were sent 2 varieties of Kinder chocolate in our box the chocolate with cereals and the choco bons. The choco bons wereso mourish the bag was gone with 24 hours of opening it. I wasn't a huge fan of the chocolate with cereals, they tasted a little like chocolate sugar puffs.

Kingfisher beer 

My husband snagged this one as soon as it appeared out the box. He had tried it before when we visited an Indian restaurant some time ago but had not had it since, he said it tasted great! He said it was easy to drink and had a slight citrus taste to it but not overpowering at all. (This was included in the alcohol option for the Degustabox).

Schwartz curry sachets

I was excited to see these in the box as James favourite meal is a curry so we often have curry once a week. We received the Korma and Balti flavours in our box and we have already tried the Korma which was really nice. Im not a huge fan of coconut but it offered up the perfect amount of heat for the kids to enjoy.

Nando's potato chips

I will admit I am probably in a minority when I say I have never been to Nando's! but judging by the taste of these crisp's I need too! These Nando's grooves were packed with flavour and crunch and came in a range of interesting flavours including smokey bbq, spicy chicken and sizzling hot.

Debeukelaer cookies

Debeukelaer cookies are inspired by traditional family bakeries in Greenwich Village, New York. Each Cookies comes individually wrapped in a quirky newspaper style wrapper and sealed inside is a delicious soft cookie with a melty chocolate centre, simply delicious! The Debeukelaer cookies come in 3 flavours creamy cookies, crispy cookies and brownie cookie.

Scheckters energy drink

This is the first energy drink I have tasted that tasted fruity and not of just pure sugar and an added bonus is that it is organic and offers 100% natural energy! I really enjoyed this drink and will certainly be looking out for it in the future.

IdrinQ generation drink

The InrinQ is a new generation of drink, which is designed to help you think smarter. Things that were challenging become simpler and everything seems clearer. They did have a bit of a funny after taste though and probably not something I would buy.

We loved the fact that Degustabox gave us the chance to try out products from all across the world for just £12.99 a month!

March Degustabox **REVIEW**

Its that time of the month again when we all eagerly await the knock on the door from our lovely delivery driver delivering our Degustabox!

In case you haven't heard of Degustabox before they are a company who send out surprise food and drink boxes on a monthly subscription basis. The boxes cost £12.99 and are delivered monthly, this price includes postage! Each month the box will contain between  and 14 products for you to try, many which are completely new to the market!

Here is what was inside our box this month -

Jordan's Granola

The new Jordans lighter granola only uses natural ingredients in a bid to make their granola lighter. The Jordans lighter granola naturally has 30% less fat than other standard granola's, not only that but it is high in fibre too! I thought the granola tasted delicious and the hint of berries you could taste make it really refreshing.

Bassets Jelly Babies

Jelly babies are a classis sweet that I am sure most people have tried, but now Bassetts have brought out a pack containing just the most popular flavours blackcurrant, strawberry and raspberry. The berry mis contains real fruit juice and natural colours and I can confirm they are delicious!

Kent's Kitchen Posh Noodles

Kent's kitchen is a brand we have seen before in the Degustabox but this months box brought us a completely different product from Kent's Kitchen, Posh noodles! Natvia

Natvia is a 100% naturally sourced alternative to artificial sweeteners and sugar . Natvia has zero calories per serve, is non-genetically modified and low GI! I am yet to try this yet but it sounds like a much healthier way to sweeten things!

Crabbies Alcoholic fruit drinks

Crabbies have a new range of fruity flavoured alcoholic drinks that contain no ginger! There are 3 new flavours to choose from which are Black cherry, Zesty Lemon and Raspberry and Rhubarb. We received the Black cherry and Raspeberry and Rhubarb flavours to try both and although I was a little apprehensive at the raspberry and rhubarb they were both refreshing and tasty! These new flavours are made with up to 10% natural fruit juice and contain no artificial colours or flavouring and are 4% alcohol.

Sour Patch sweets

I have to admit im not a massive fan of sour sweets, they make my face go all funny and nothing seems to taste roght for hours after lol! However these sweets seem to have found the balance between sweet and sour with their soft jelly inside. They are available in 6 different flavours too!

BBQUE sauce

I am always on the look out for a decent bbq sauce that isn't to sweet but really gives off that lovely bbq taste and I think I may have found it with BBQUE sauce! The original Bavarian barbecue sauces are now available in 4 unique flavours and would be perfect for marinating meat, accompanying meat from the bbq or for meals such as New York chicken (which is what we used it for).

JuiceBurst drinks

These were my favourite new discovery in the box this months! I am always a little wary of juice drinks as although they may taste delicious some of them can contain just as much sugar as a lot of fizzy drinks! So when I discovered that Juice Burst drinks were not only delicious but they are low calorie too! They even have a "skinny range" which contains 1 of your 5 a day! These are most definitely a drink I will be continuing to purchase after the box.

Lindt Lindor Mini eggs

Lindor is my absolute favourite chocolate so I think I may have shrieked a little when I saw 2 packs of these in the box and swiftly hid a pack all for myself lol! Lindt Lindor is a delightfully smooth chocolate and this selection includes milk, white and dark lindor chocolate mini eggs assortment. These are perfect for a delicious Easter egg hunt and that it what I will be using our second pack for.

Brioche Pasquier bread bites

We have received other Brioche Pasquier products in past boxes bit its always great to find new products from a brand in the box. This month we received these bread bites which come in handy 20g packs, perfect for snacking on or for lunch boxes and picnics etc. The bread bites are made with real french bread and each pack is under 90 calories. They are also free from artificial colours, flavours  and preservatives!

I probably say this most months as the boxes are so fab, but this has definitely been my favourite box so far! It contained a mixture of food and drink, sweet and savoury and healthy and not so healthy foods to try.
