Happy Birthday Evelyn - 6 Today!

Six years ago today you came bursting into our lives and I am not sure who was more surprised, the midwives at how fast you arrived or your dad over the fact you were a girl! But once thing I do know for sure if that in that moment our family was complete.

Today Evelyn you turn 6 and I know you have been counting down the days for weeks (maybe even months!) for today, so a big Happy 6th Birthday my baby girl your day if finally here.

You've had a few nicknames over the years, you were peanut for several weeks after you were born because since we didn't know if you were going to be a boy or a girl is was so hard trying to pick names. Then Evelyn, Evie, Lou-Lou but not you are mostly known as "Squidy" in our house, not sure where it came from but its kind of stuck. Although I do know that you also like to be called "Queeny" some days, especially when you are feeling particularly sassy of diva-ish!

I know that lockdown wasn't exactly how you wanted to spend your birthday, heck who does right? You had grand plans for horse riding and a party, friends, cake and bouncy castles. But unfortunately all that had to be put on hold. I dreaded telling you but I couldn't believe how well you handled it all, you told us you understood, that you were happy to spend your day with us (and have presents of course). You were so happy when we learnt that there was a zoom meeting with your whole class planned on your actual birthday. It was so lovely seeing all your class mates on screen and when they sang happy birthday at the end your shy smile made me want to cry all the happy tears.

You are sassy, funny and absolutely hilarious but you also have a shy side, a quiet side and you are most definitely a mummy's girl which I totally love. You love cuddles in bed every morning, you love dancing (especially to dance monkey) and you have become quite the make up artist and fashionista the last few months too, insisting on doing both mum and dads make up regularly! You adore horse riding and are desperate to join a gum group too, oh and you love showing off just how good you are at breast stroke when we go swimming, teasing your brother that your breaststroke is better than his!

Whilst you and your brother bicker (and drive me up the wall with it sometimes!) I know that you both love each other so much. James looks out for you and protects you as much as I do and its James who you turn to when you need support, a hug or help when I cant do it. I see you watching your big brother and then try to copy him now and again and its so cute.

I remember joking when you were little and saying I didn't understand people who said they "didn't know where the time had gone" especially those long teething months with no sleep and lots of crying. I felt like I knew where every single second had gone and I had felt every second of our journey so far. However now when I look back and think you have been here a whole 6 years its really true " I just don't know where the time has gone" but I also don't really remember what it was like without you either, you've just because the final piece to our jigsaw, completing our family unit and I cannot wait for more years, more memories, more hugs and lots more laughter too!

Happy 6th Birthday Evelyn.

xXx

  5. These moments that are related with the children development and growing up are so special for all parents. Parents love so much their children and they want to have so happy moments and experiences with them. It is so beautiful.
