Returning to Work Post Covid-19 or After Furlough

**Advertisement Feature**

I think it would be fair to say that this year has been a struggle for all businesses, regardless of the size or industry, covid-19 has taken its toll us on all. Now that lockdown restrictions are gradually easing and people are returning to work as safely as possible. This means it is also time for business owners to get their companies back on track and running as efficiently as possible to help them try to recover from the damage and losses done from the last few months.

If you are thinking of returning to work and want to make improvements to your business or look at ways to get it thriving again, here are three simple ways to get back on track

Get organised

Before your staff return to work, get your office or work station spaces ready by giving each workspace a deep clean, organising desk areas and having a good tidy up. Also allow staff to have a settling in morning where they can themselves get organised. If you have lots of space this could be spread out in smaller groups over a few days, this will allow everyone to get used to the new rules and have a day to adapt before the office is full again.

Don’t forget to have a computer clear out too. Encourage staff to delete old work from their desktops to help them work more efficiently and have less "clutter" or personal belongings on desks as this can make it easier to clean and disinfect. Finally, select a member from each team to clean up at the end of each day, you could always create a rota for this so one member of staff isn't always left with this job. This will help staff to come in and get started straight away the next morning.

Technology

Updating your office technology is another way to improve work flow. For example, investing in faster computers or using iPads in meetings will limit the need for sharing technology or having technology break down in the office. Having up to date technology and apps will also allow you to hold things like meetings or conferences from the comfort of your office meaning no missed work if you or your staff cannot travel or restriction's stop face to face interactions.

Managed Print Services can also help your business to run more efficiently. This is because it allows you to create a bespoke printing strategy that fits into your business. As part of an improved printing strategy, managed print services will also optimise your printing infrastructure. This will not only help to save your company money, but it will also improve office productivity.

Teamwork

Finally, motivate your employees and encourage your staff to help drive the business forward. As staff return most will be just as keen as you are to help the business recover and have a successful return. They will want the business to thrive and their jobs to be safe so don't be afraid to be firm and honest about how important new rules/regulations are and how everyone working together can help ensure everything runs as smoothly as possible.

Announce the steps you will be taking to make improvements within the office. This will ensure that everyone is aware of your objectives and ready to put them into practice. Try to involve your employees as much as possible and hold regular meeting to discuss current projects. You may even find that they have some great ideas for boosting business again after this year’s pandemic. Whilst staff parties might not be possible right now, you could still have virtual staff calls or find other ways to keep staff happy and motivated too.

Have you returned to work to work since covid-19? What changes or challenges have you come across or has your return been like you never left?

xXx
