Fashion Must Haves this Autumn/Winter Season

 **Advertisement Feature**

As the darker, colder evenings draw in and those long summer evenings become a distant memory, it must mean that autumn is here with winter not too far away either. So as we pack away our summer wardrobe and dig out those trusty winter favourites (onesies for the win right...?) I am sharing some of my autumn/winter must haves for this year. From going out to staying in, here are some pieces you will want to add to your wardrobe for this winter season.

Remember winter doesn't have to be all dark, muted colours and knitted jumpers. It can be fun, colourful and cosy too. Here are some of my suggestions from Femme Luxe for winter wardrobe staples that can be mixed and matched with the rest of your wardrobe this winter for comfy, seasonal fashion statements.

Loungewear

As the colder evenings close in, you can't beat getting home and slipping into something super comfy and when it comes to comfy, loungewear ticks all the boxes! It is cosy and comfy enough to wear all day and night (think soft fabrics and elasticated waists!), warm enough to keep you feeling toasty even in winter and you could definitely get away with popping to the shop in it or answering the door for a takeout!

Investing a couple of good lounge wear sets will happily see you through Autumn, Winter and into Spring too and they are a cold weather staple for the ultimate comfort. There are lots of styles to choose from including different materials such as cotton, fleece etc as well as different styles from baggy, oversized styles to tighter more figure hugging deigns and even those with a crop top or 3/4 length bottoms. I absolutely love the simple style and age green colouring in the set below.

Oversized Cardigans and Jumpers

Whilst our outfits seem to get smaller in the summer months to help us cope with the beautiful sunshine and sudden heatwave, for me it's all about everything being oversized, warm and cosy in the winter months! Layers are great for colder weather as it means you can remove layers when you are indoors or less cold and add them when outside or chilly. For this reason especially, adding an oversized jumper/cardigan or two into your winter wardrobe can be a great essential to have. If you choose a colour such as black, grey, white or navy they can usually be mixed and matched with most outfits too.

Hoodies have the added benefit of a hood so not only do they keep your body warm but your head and neck too, whilst cardigans are so versatile they can go with anything from dresses to jeans and everything in between.

Dresses

We often think that dresses are only for the summer and pulling out those white dresses or little black dresses in the winter is a big no-no. But you can still wear all those dresses you love in the colder months it's just about choosing the right ones and accessorising properly. I absolutely love the cable knit dresses that are on the shelves right now in warm rich colours such as burgundy and burnt orange. They still give that "dressed up vibe but with a cosy winter edge.

If you would rather stick to dresses you already have in your wardrobe to save money, take a look at how you could accessorise them differently for winter. Switch up bare legs for cable knit tights and add a shawl or even contrasting denim jacket to cover your shoulders and keep your warm. You could also try adding a plain coloured (or even white) t-shirt underneath the dress for extra warmth and to completely transform the look of a dress for a more casual event or look.

Denim

Ok so we might have to pack away the denim shorts and bandeau top combos, but that doesn't mean denim is out altogether, in fact denim is perfect for the colder months! There are so many ways to wear denim and the great thing about it is that it never really goes out of fashion or style.

I like to have a couple of pairs of staple denim jeans, a bootcut pair and a skinny leg pair usually. Having both of these usually cover all basis whether its creating a casual day time look or a dressed up evening look with the added benefit of both looks keeping my warm! A denim jacket is also another great winter staple to have as it goes with almost anything from dresses to joggers, dressing up or cosy loungewear, you can't go wrong with a fitted denim jacket for all winter round.

So those are a few of my must haves for this autumn/winter season, what are your staples that you like to come back to when the colder season appear? Let me know in the comments below.

xXx
