Five Ways to Get the Right Staff for Your Business

 **Advertisement Feature**

Hiring the right employees for an open job role is an essential part of maintaining a successful business. Ensuring the correct measures are implemented during the hiring process will enable you to cherry pick the best candidates for the position which will therefore help your business run an smoothly as possible.

There are a few steps you can use to achieve your dream team.

Look for someone committed

Hiring someone who isn’t committed to the job role they’re in will only end badly. You may end up losing them as soon as a more appealing job interests them, or they may even bring down the quality of work at your company due to lack of motivation.

You should check the candidates job history and exam details such as their previous job roles, how long they stayed in each position and how many years they’ve been working. If they appear to be constantly switching jobs, they’re likely to be unfit for the role.

Establish their values and goals

Ideally, you need to hire someone who’s views, values and goals align with your company’s culture. You should ask them about both their short and long term goals, as well as what they consider important in a working environment.

You should also consider what type of personality they have, and whether they would get on with your current employees and managers. Your candidates must be willing to adapt themselves into a new working environment, so you should look for someone who is eager to experience new things.

Improve your hiring process

If you're constantly struggling to find a suitable candidate, it may be time to review your hiring processes and implement new strategies. Consider posting the job role in new places online such as Indeed and promote the role across your own social media accounts too. The position should have the full job description included, as well as compelling incentives such as pay, working hours and any benefits of the company.

If you are looking to hire a specialist role, such as HR staff, you should consider getting in touch with recruitment agencies. For example,
HR recruitment agencies will be able to assist you with advertising and writing the job description, and will take on the hard work for you such as interviewing and selecting candidates. This can be especially helpful if you aren’t fully sure on how to pick the correct candidate.

Consider hiring interns

If you have the budget for it, you could hire a few interns with the opportunity to fill a job position after their internship comes to an end. This way you will get to know them, understand their strengths and weaknesses and witness how they interact with other members of staff.

You have done half of the hard work by picking interns, so you could hire from the small internship pool when looking to fill a permanent position.

Switch up the interview questions

Don’t be afraid to ask a few different questions during the interview process. Whilst it’s important to ask business orientated questions, it’s also useful to use questions that will allow you to get to know your candidate.

The questions can be as simple as “what's your favourite hobby and why?” or “tell me something about yourself that wasn’t on your CV”. This way you can engage in a different type of conversation and gain an understanding of how the candidate interacts in a social way.

Whether you just use one of these methods, or all five, you should be able to find your perfect candidate.

xXx
