How Can You Maximise Space in The Box Room Of Your Home?

**Collaborative Feature**

Most of our homes have a box room or one with minimal space, and it is often neglected or given a bad rep. However, a box room can be cosy and homely, if you use the space to your advantage and decorate it practically. Make the room your own and furnish it the way you like, and you’ll never look back!

Here are ideas for how to make your box room feel bigger than it is...

Fitted furniture

Opting for a fitted wardrobe within a box room can be a more efficient and well-designed storage facility than freestanding furniture. It allows you to be able to utilise every inch of even the most unpromising corner and can also be installed floor-to-ceiling. For easier access to your wardrobe and the ability to easily see your belongings, sliding doors can also help to save you valuable space.

Lighting

Adding small reading lights to a headboard is a great alternative to a bedside lamp. Overhead lighting is also particularly useful; recessed lighting can be installed within the ceiling, reducing the space in your room. Why not make your room feel even more homely and install some LED Strip lights or fairy lights to make the space more inviting?

Well-placed mirrors A mirror can help add a statement piece to your room, giving the appearance of a more spacious area - mirrors will reflect light to make the room brighter and less cramped. Choose a mirror that works well with your existing décor and colour scheme and matches the layout of the room.

Stack storage

With the proper storage, you can save yourself space that you didn’t even realise that you had! Modular units can be stacked on top of one another, allowing you to place your belongings in a small area of the room, making it easy to find everything that you are looking for. Not only this, but it also helps to not have everything sprawled across the floor and creates a clear walkway for you to get around the room easily and safely.

Turn the box room into an office or walk-in wardrobe

If you are lucky enough to not have to use the box room as a bedroom, why not turn the space into a home office or walk-in wardrobe? This way you can free up space in other rooms- not to mention a walk-in wardrobe is every girl’s dream! Doing this can add value to your property if you do choose to sell your home, and it can be great to have another room in the house where you can go and relax!

Do you have a box room or smaller room in your house? If so how do you use it or do you think your could utilise its potential even more, perhaps with one of the suggestions above? Let me know in the comments below.
