Geomag NASA Rocker and Rover **REVIEW & GIVEAWAY**

**AD - Review**

When James went back to school in September he was pretty excited to find out that their very first topic this term would be Space! He is fascinated by space and regularly reads books, watches programs and tells us all the facts he has learnt at school all about it.

So when we were recently asked if James would like to review some special edition NASA Geomag sets I didn't even need to ask him.

Both of these sets have been endorsed by NASA and have been released as a special edition to celebrate the 50th anniversary of one of the first manned lunar landings.

If you haven't heard of Geomag before they are a STEM based construction toy which is made up of magnetic rods and spheres which can be built in any way you please, the possibilities are endless if you have enough kit.  Before we had even taken a look at the instruction's the kids were having fun with the magnets, building their own towers and seeing what 3D shapes they can make.

That's what is so great about Geomag its perfect for imagination play, educational play, STEM and construction just to name a few.

To get started we opened the box and started looking for instructions, but the instructions are actually on the box itself, so don't rip or throw it away when opening! Each set comes with everything you need to construct the model (rocket or rover) as well as a few spares in each set.

The Geomag NASA rocket consists of 84 pieces including 30 magnetic rods, 18 magnetic metal spheres and an A4 sheet of thin plastic pop out pieces to create the rocket panels.

The Geomag NASA rover is a slightly smaller set consisting of 52 pieces including the rods and spheres as above but this set also comes with wheels!

Constructing the sets was both fun and a little frustrating at times but overall James loved it. The tricky party was definitely trying to get the panels to stay in place as they are simply held by the magnetic rods and spheres almost squeezing hold of them. The problem was the magnetic rods like to stick to everything so you had to be very careful not to get extra bits stuck to your model as you constructed it.

It took James around 1 hour to build both sets but that was pretty much by himself. The bright colourful illustrated instructions are easy to follow even for kids (James is 10) and having them on the box itself means they can't get easily lost or ripped. He was so chuffed with his models that he has asked if he can take them to school (now just to get them there in one piece!) and I can see them being on display in his room for some time.

The rocket definitely feels more flimsy than the rover but I think that might just be because its a larger and taller model so has more parts that can break. James loved that the rover could actually be pushed along and the wheels actually work which is a great touch.

Both sets are aimed at children aged 5+, however personally I think either would actually be more suited to children aged 7 maybe even 8+. James is 10 and was able to complete these himself but Evelyn who is 5 really struggled as its actually quite a fiddly job trying to get all the pieces to stay in place. That being said Evelyn did have lots of fun after making up her own models with the magnetic rods and spheres.

I love that the sets are both educational as well as fun and that the pieces can be used to create other things as the kids grow and interests change. The only thing I would say about the sets is that they were both quite flimsy and more models to display than play with. '

Do you fancy winning your very own special edition NASA Geomag sets (the same sets as above)? They would make perfect gifts to put away for Christmas or even a birthday! Well now is your chance.

To enter use the Rafflecopter form below. You can enter as many or as few times as you wish but obviously the more options you complete the more entries you will have in to win.
