Half Term in the English Riveria with Beverley Holidays

**AD-Review**

Over the October half term, we managed to escape for a much-needed family break when we were very kindly invited along to enjoy a short break in the English Riviera at the award-winning Beverley Holidays!

Situated in the heart of Devon, Beverley Holiday's actually consists of 3 main parks, Beverley Park, Beverley Bay and Beverley View and across the three parks Beverley Holidays offers a range of holiday accommodation from pitches where you can camp or park up a motorhome to caravans and luxury lodges, some even have their own hot tubs!

Beverley Holidays first opened in 1959 after Joseph and Marion Jeavons decided they were going to sell up and buy 21 acres of land in Goodrington, following their dream of one day opening their very own holiday park. Their dream became reality in 1959 when they opened the doors to Beverley Holidays with just 10 caravans and a name inspired by the Beverley sisters.

Over the years the park has expanded, evolved and become bigger and better, earning five-star awards and celebrating 50 years of award-winning holidays along the way. Today across the three parks, Beverley Holidays has nearly 240 caravans, 23 lodges, 150 touring and camping pitches and over 100 privately owned holiday homes n site. There is one thing that still remains the same though, the family feel to all three parks. Family is very much at the heart of every Beverley Holidays break and it's no surprise really when the business is now in to its third generation of the Jeavons family!

We were kindly invited to experience Beverley Holidays over the half term in a beautiful platinum caravan, however as we spotted that there were a few platinum caravans with hot tubs still available we opted to pay to upgrade. We just couldn't resist the lure of having our very own hot tub on our decking and the kids were SO excited to try it out.

During our stay we were situated on the Beverley Park site which is the largest of the 3 sites and put you at the heart of all the family action and activity. The park is a good size with all of the amenities you could need during your stay including a shop, arcade, club house providing entertainment during the daytime and evening, swimming pool and not one but two places to eat. There is an also good size park on site too!

Our caravan was absolutely amazing! We have stayed in quite a few caravan parks, but this has to be one of the most luxurious caravans we have stayed in, of course the hot tub was the icing on the cake too!

The platinum caravans can sleep either 4 or 6 people and have full central heating and double glazing throughout. The kitchens are fully equipped including a microwave, toaster, kettle & cafetiere as well as an integrated fridge freezer and our caravan had a large electric oven too which made cooking in the caravan a breeze.

The living area had a really cosy feel to it with a large wrap around sofa area, cushioned table area and an electric fire that had a coal fire effect that made it feel so warm and cosy, we couldn't resist putting in on every evening! The living area also had a large digital tv, plus a tv in all 3 bedrooms too!

As I mentioned above, we opted to pay a little extra to upgrade to a platinum caravan with a hot tub and boy where we glad, we did, it was absolutely amazing, even if it did rain the whole week! Our hot tub was partly sunk into our own private decking area and was ready for us to jump into as soon as we arrived, warmed to the perfect temperature!

It was a good size hot tub and there was plenty of room for the 4 of us (2 adults and 2 kids) but any more than that might have been a bit of a squeeze in terms of being able to move around.

Of course, one feature none of us, especially the kids could wait to try out was using the hot tub at night. We discovered out hot tub had colour changing lights and, in the night, it actually glowed like a rainbow whilst we soaked up the night sky and brisk cold air on our faces as the warm water bubbled around us. It was so relaxing and exactly what we all needed, a recharge of our batteries and some much-needed family time.

I would say though that in an ideal world it would have been nicer for there to be a bit more privacy around the hot tub. As you can see above, whilst there is a fence around the decking it is open and there were caravans both to the side and in front of us, overlooking out hot tub maybe 10 feet away. It didn't really bother us, but we were aware of others being able to look in, especially with the kids in there and that we could see into other people's hot tub area's as we wandered around the park too. Even just adding a blocked-out fence surrounding the caravan would have provided that much needed privacy.

During our stay, the hot tubs were really well maintained and the lovely chap who came round to our caravan each morning checked the levels and was more than happy to help us or answer any questions, like when we wanted to raise the temperature a little.

When we finally managed to drag ourselves out of the hot tub to explore the park, we found the site was clean, friendly and well maintained. We booked the kids onto some of the activities from a sheet we were handed at check in, and these were great fun! They included things like "spooky treat making", a "ghost walk" and a "fun science" group and they were all suitable for both kids who are 5 and 10.

Some activities on site are free, including the advertised activities, whilst some have an additional fee. However, there were no hidden surprised and the prices for each activity were clearly labelled and we didn't find anything that cost more than £5 per child which we thought was really fair. Both James and Evelyn enjoyed all of the activities and we kind of wish there had been a few more on offer during our stay, especially since the weather was rubbish so we couldn't explore the local area as much as we had hoped. However, we are aware that it was the very end of the season, so I guess there is probably lots more on during peak season and school holidays!

There is also a crazy golf course on site which looked like loads of fun but unfortunately, we didn't get to try it as whenever we had time to fit it in the weather seemed against us. We also found a swimming pool onsite that looked more like a tropical oasis than a pool with a heated indoor pool and bubbling poolside hot tub it looked like the perfect place to relax. It is worth noting that the pool is fairly small, and it did get busy really quickly so it's worth going early on or a bit later in the day if you want to have a bit more room to splash around.

Evening entertainment is put on every night at Beverley Holidays with a range of entertainment to suit everyone including a kids disco, fun and games for the kids, bingo and then shows designed more for the adults in the evening from around 9pm.

As it was Halloween during our stay there was a Halloween ball/disco on one night which the kids absolutely loved, and the park certainly went all out with decorating the hall which was amazing. The fun and games were great fun and had both my 10- and 5-year-old up and joining in (which is practically unheard of for my 10-year-old nowadays!).

We did discover on one evening that the site doesn't actually have a cashpoint open once the shop closes around 7pm and the closest one is around 10-minute walk away at a local shop outside of the site. This wouldn't have been an issue except for the fact that the bingo was cash only as were a few of the activities put on during the evening for the kids to do whilst bingo was on. It meant the kids missed out which was a little disappointing and it would be great to see either a cash machine put in that could be accessed more easily or see the park accepting card everywhere for ease of use.

Overall we had an absolutely amazing time during our stay and were already talking of coming back again on our journey home. We may even try out the camping pitches next time as the views were simply stunning and would be amazing during the summer months to sit outside the tent with a view across the sea/beach!

From the moment we checked in and were greeted by super friendly staff (who even had a lovely goody bag waiting for the kids!) to every staff member we encountered during our stay, we really couldn't fault them. They were friendly, kind and all about making sure that we and the other guests on site had the best time and really you can't ask for much more on a holiday, can you?

If you are looking for somewhere to enjoy a family break where you can relax, unwind and enjoy the beautiful Devon coastline then Beverley Holidays is for you. It is situated in a great spot close to shops, amenities and stunning beaches whilst having plenty to do on site for everyone too.

We can't wait to come back and explore a little more, next time hopefully with a little less rain!

xXx

**We were gifted a 4 night stay for the purpose of this review, however we did opt to pay extra to upgrade before our visit. All words, opinions and images are my own.**
